Good Government for Missouri and the Jewish Federation of St. Louis hosted a political engagement roundtable for young professionals last Friday. A small group joined Representative Jay Barnes (R-Jefferson City) for lunch and an informal discussion. The conversation ranged from fiscal and social policy to the need for young leaders to become more engaged in the political process.
Rep. Barnes is a key legislative leader on healthcare policy issues in the Missouri House and is widely respected as an intelligent and pragmatic voice in the General Assembly. He represents Cole County in the Missouri House and is an attorney in Jefferson City. Before his time in the legislature, Rep. Barnes worked as general counsel in the Missouri Senate President Pro Tem's office and as a policy counsel and speechwriter for Governor Matt Blunt.
This is the second roundtable in a series of events GGFM is hosting to give young professionals opportunities to meet legislative leaders and discuss their role in the political process. If you are interested in future roundtables, please contact GGFM at goodgovformo@gmail.com.
