Yesterday the Missouri General Assembly passed the 13 bills that comprise the state's budget. The legislature's budget plan appropriates $27.1 billion for fiscal year 2017. The bills will now move to the Governor's desk, and he will have 15 days to veto specific lines. The legislature passed the budget early enough to give them the opportunity to vote to override any vetoes before the legislative session ends on May 13.

The FY 2017 budget includes $9.3 billion for the Medicaid program, an additional $71 million for K-12 education, a $3.8 million cut to the University of Missouri's administration, and language prohibiting Medicaid women's health funds from going to entities that perform abortions. The articles below contain more detail and commentary on the budget bills.
